"TRAINING CHILDREN FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING."
The history of Kingswood Home for Children is, to a large extent, the history of the Wachtel family. The man with the vision, the Reverend A. E. Wachtel (1887-1964), was born in Mound City, Missouri on December 14, 1887. A. E., as he was always known, was a minister and evangelist and a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan Seminary in Lincoln where he received his Masters degree. He met Ina (1890-1980), a school teacher, at a newly formed church in Nebraska where he came to preach. Their mutual attraction led to their marriage on August 10, 1910 in Humboldt, Nebraska. Working together, Kingswood Home for Children was formed and grew successfully despite tragedy and many difficult moments.
